UK power cords use the BS 1363 plug standard, which has been mandatory in Great Britain since 1992. The distinctive 3-rectangular-pin design with a built-in fuse is one of the safest plug designs in the world and is also used in Ireland, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and parts of the Middle East.

Certifications & Standards

All our UK power cords are BSI (British Standards Institution) certified and compliant with BS 1363:2016+A1:2018. After Brexit, products sold in Great Britain now require the UKCA mark in addition to CE. We provide both CE and UKCA documentation upon request.

Fuse Options & Type

UK plugs contain a cartridge fuse — a safety feature unique to the British standard. We supply: • 3A fuse — for low-power devices (lamps, phone chargers) • 5A fuse — for medium-power devices • 13A fuse — for high-power appliances (kettles, toasters) Both rewirable plugs (for field-installable wire) and molded plugs (factory-assembled) are available.
